Barbara Jeremiah to succeed Charles Berry as Weir chair

Weir Group said on Friday that Charles Berry will retire as chairman after the annual meeting in April 2022, having done a full nine-year term, with Barbara Jeremiah set to take over.

Jeremiah has been Weir’s senior independent director since 2020, having joined the board in 2017. Her previous experience includes more than 30 years with aluminium producer Alcoa, where she was executive vice president, corporate development and chairman’s counsel.

Berry said: “It is an incredible privilege to serve as chairman of Weir, a business where my father spent much of his career and a group that I have had a life-long affection for.

“Since joining the board in 2013, and becoming chairman in 2014, Weir has successfully completed one of the biggest transformations in its history and is now ideally placed to prosper in the decades ahead, with a clear strategy and first-class leadership team.”
