Value Communication Issues with SaaS Business Applications Vendors

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight leverages results from IDC’s 2021 SaaSPath Survey. SaaSPath is IDC’s premiere SaaS application global benchmarking web survey, which was fielded in March 2021 and returned 2,135 respondents across 11 countries. SaaSPath covers 17 enterprise SaaS applications; looks at the mind and journey of buyers and their preferences around pricing, packaging, and purchasing channels; analyzes how companies are approaching and utilizing the cloud for these applications; and provides detailed vendor rating and comparisons across all major vendors. Survey topics include adoption of specific cloud workloads, maturity, drivers for cloud adoption, spending decisions, and questions about cloud marketplaces.

The data shown in this IDC Survey Spotlight focuses on the issues that respondents cited with their vendors. Several of the issues can be alleviated with better communication of value to ensure the customer understands the value it is getting from the solution and to reduce any surprises that a customer might get because it is on a consumption pricing model.
