De Soto Planning Commission Approves Preliminary Plans for Countryside Farms Development
September 2, 2025
The De Soto Planning Commission has recently green-lighted preliminary plans for a substantial mixed-housing development known as Countryside Farms, proposed by AA Land Devco LLC. This project, which encompasses 126 residential units, is set to be located on Lexington Avenue, south of 95th Street, according to official city documents.
The Countryside Farms development is designed to unfold in five distinct phases, with the first phase focusing on the construction of various housing units, including duplexes and multi-family residences. Specifically, the initial phase will feature 72 two-bedroom multi-family units alongside 54 planned duplexes. Notably, the development will ensure accessibility by incorporating four multi-family units that are designed to be ADA compliant, thereby addressing the needs of residents with disabilities.
In addition to residential options, the design for Countryside Farms includes plans for a community clubhouse, which is slated for construction in a later phase of the project. This facility is anticipated to enhance the livability and social fabric of the development, providing residents with communal space that fosters interaction and activity.
As the project progresses, it will be subjected to further scrutiny and approval by the De Soto City Council, which is scheduled to convene for a review of the first phase at its upcoming meeting on Thursday. The city council’s examination of the proposal will not only assess compliance with local zoning laws and community standards but will also consider the overall impact of the development on the surrounding area, including infrastructure, traffic, and public services.
Phelps Engineering Inc., a well-respected firm in the field, is serving as the civil engineer for the Countryside Farms initiative. Their expertise will be essential in ensuring that the development adheres to regulatory requirements and meets the necessary engineering standards.
The introduction of Countryside Farms is in line with a broader trend of increasing demand for diverse housing options in suburban communities. As more individuals and families seek affordable housing solutions, projects like this one may play a crucial role in addressing local housing shortages while contributing to economic growth and community development.
The upcoming deliberations by the De Soto City Council will be pivotal in determining the trajectory of this project and its potential benefits to the local community. Stakeholders and residents alike will be closely monitoring the proceedings as the city takes steps toward enhancing its housing infrastructure.
