Ageas UK has successfully held a sustainable motor repairs workshop and is looking to make the event a regular feature for solution centres.

“Our repair network has been using green parts in vehicle repairs for some time now, and we are proud of the strides we have made to make them an integral part of the motor repair process,” claims director Stephen Linklater (pictured) highlighted.

“Nevertheless, there is so much we can do to reduce the environmental impact of vehicle repairs, and so this workshop was designed to prompt us all to consider what more can be done to reduce the impact of vehicle repairs.

Forty attendees took part in the first event, which involved firms in the areas of green parts, repair-over-replace training, and number plate recycling.

Jerkins & Pain’s Gary Mackinnon commented: “The workshop, in my opinion, was extremely worthwhile as it highlighted other sustainability opportunities which we can explore to be an ever-greener accident repair centre.

“It also gave us the opportunity to speak with other repair partners within the Ageas network and bounce around different ideas.”

Meanwhile Martyn Rowley, executive director at NBRA & VBRA Commercial, had this to say: “The Ageas vehicle sustainability workshop… was truly an enlightening experience.

“The presentations delivered by Ageas suppliers were not only informative but also sparked valuable insights into sustainable practices that left me contemplating ways to integrate them into the NBRA’s initiatives.”

According to Ageas UK, a repair-over-replace approach and the use of green parts are “embedded in the DNA” of its repair network.
