Danville Area Community Center Secures Grant for Key Community Initiatives

Danville, PA — The Danville Area Community Center (DACC) has announced the receipt of a ,149.75 grant awarded by the Community Giving Foundation, specifically through the Jack and Helen Wanich Fund. This funding has been designated to address pressing needs in the community of Montour County, with a particular focus on childcare and mental health services.

The DACC plans to allocate ,766.50 from the grant towards the initial costs associated with the construction of a new preschool expansion named “Here we Grow Again.” This initiative aims to enhance its childcare capacity and provide greater accessibility to early childhood education, a vital service in supporting local families.

The remaining ,383.25 will support “Teen Inspire,” a program designed to offer mentoring and career-oriented resources for teenagers. This initiative is part of a broader effort to equip youth with the skills and knowledge necessary for their future success, thereby contributing to the overall wellbeing of the community.

“We are absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful for this incredible support,” remarked Heather Laubach, Chief Operating Officer of DACC. “This grant will help us meet real needs for families and teens in our community, and it’s an honor to be recognized as part of Jack and Helen Wanich’s legacy of giving.” Laubach’s comments underscore the importance of community-driven initiatives and the positive impact of collective efforts in addressing local challenges.

The Jack and Helen Wanich Fund, established through a generous estate gift from the couple, aims to foster opportunities and enhance the quality of life in the greater Danville area. In its inaugural year, the Community Giving Foundation facilitated over ,000 in grants to various nonprofits focusing on essential services such as childcare, mental health, and affordable housing.

The DACC’s initiatives are particularly timely, given the ongoing discussions around mental health awareness and the challenges faced by families in securing reliable childcare. Programs like “Here we Grow Again” and “Teen Inspire” contribute significantly to addressing these issues, facilitating community resilience and supporting families in navigating the complexities of modern life.

As the DACC moves forward with these projects, they are set to play a pivotal role in shaping a more supportive environment for the families and youth of Montour County. This grant not only represents financial assistance but also symbolizes a commitment to the community’s growth and wellbeing.
