In a joyous start to the New Year, NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx welcomed their first newborns of 2025 in the early hours of January 1. These births symbolize not only the onset of a new year but also the hope and promise that each new life brings to the community.

At 12:41 a.m., Saiful Alom and Mahfuza Tasmine celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Aliha Alom, at Jacobi Medical Center in the Morris Park neighborhood. Weighing 4 pounds, 3.9 ounces and measuring 17.3 inches long, Aliha represents the first child born at this hospital in the New Year. The Alom family, grateful for their healthy baby girl, are longtime residents of the Morris Park area, contributing to the rich tapestry of the local community.

“A healthy baby is the greatest blessing,” said Saiful Alom. “We are excited to start this new chapter in our lives as parents and to raise Aliha in such a vibrant community.”

Just a few hours later, at 6:38 a.m. in Norwood, Janet Navarrette-Carrasco and Gilberto Morales welcomed their fourth child, Zoe Adaly Morales-Navarrette, at North Central Bronx Hospital. Their family, already established in the neighborhood, is eager to add another member to their growing household. As Janet noted, “Zoe makes our family complete. We’re grateful for the care we received at the hospital and can’t wait to start this journey together.”

Both hospitals are instrumental in providing maternal and child health services to the residents of The Bronx, a borough known for its diverse and vibrant community. The healthcare facilities have invested significantly in improving prenatal and postnatal care, ensuring that families receive the best support during such crucial moments.

In addition to Jacobi and North Central Bronx hospitals, Montefiore Health System also celebrated the New Year by welcoming its first babies of 2025, further enriching the lives of Bronx residents with new beginnings.

As these families embark on their parenting journeys, the local community extends its warmest congratulations. Birthdays are not merely personal milestones; they resonate throughout neighborhoods, inspiring hope and unity as new lives join this dynamic borough.

Once again, we commend the Alom and Morales-Navarrette families on their joyous news, highlighting the continuing legacy of new beginnings in The Bronx.
