The roots of many BirdLife Partners have been forged in the emergence of the environmental movement. As far back as the 1900s, pioneering scientists and researchers, distraught at the destruction of the natural world and bound together with a love for birds, founded ornithological societies to study and protect the birds they cared about.

Founded in 1916 by prominent scholars at the Natural History Museum, Aves Argentinas, our BirdLife Partner in Argentina, is no different. Their mission to study, conserve and share the joy of Argentina’s birds remains true today.

Across the decades, conservationists are linked by our passion for nature. It is unimaginable what our world would look like without their commitment. Working together across the globe, we are united in our shared believe there is hope for our planet and we all have a part to play to save nature.

Interviewed by Martin Harper, CEO of BirdLife International, the Executive Director of Aves Argentinas, Hernán Casañas, shares the story of how his love for birds and nature led to a career in protecting the wild birds of Argentina.
