CBIZ Insurance Services of Sarasota was able to raise $10,000 recently for families of children battling brain and spinal cord cancer. Half of the money came from support on social media.

Initially, CBIZ Insurance was awarded $5,000 following an application process through Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance’s 2024 Make More Happen program. The company was granted the award for its volunteerism and had the opportunity to raise $5,000 more if it could get the most votes on a micro-site created for companies selected for the award. After getting more than 1,300 votes on the site, CBIZ Insurance dominated the competition and was rewarded with another $5,000 to add to its donation.

Now, a donation of $10,000 will go to the Payton Wright Foundation, which pays for things like utilities and rent to support families caring for children with cancer.

Payton Wright’s father, Patrick Wright, is vice president of CBIZ Insurance Services. After his daughter passed away in 2007 from a rare form of brain cancer, he and his family started the Payton Wright Foundation in her honor.

“The collective support from CBIZ Insurance Services has allowed us to support dozens of families through the hardest time in their lives,” Wright says in a statement. “Payton would be so proud.”
