At the London-based sustainability conference, the KPF Principal will discuss what the UK can learn from New York City’s urban policies.

In the session, Elie will present the new Biomedical Research Lab Building designed for Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Set to become the first purpose built, all-electric academic research lab building in New York City, it is designed to outperform emission limits set by LL97 and to support Columbia University’s Plan 2030 greenhouse gas reduction goals.

Elie will be joined by session chair Emily Mansfield, Associate Sustainability Consultant of Calford Seadon, and Shanta Tucker, Director at Atelier Ten. The panel will discuss the implications of  New York City’s sustainability regulations, such as Local Law 97, the impact they have on development, and lessons that can be applied in the UK.

FOOTPRINT+ is a leading sustainability conference, focusing on the decarbonisation of the built environment. The conference will take place from May 8-9. See full programme and register here.
